Dr. Trexler says, "Therapy should not be a one size fits all approach. I believe clients and counselors should collaborate and challenge each other for the best therapeutic outcomes. In sessions with me, we're going to dive into the uncomfortable, work on overturning harm and still find humor and powerful human connection."

Family issues are also a specialty. Dr. Trexler works with adult children and parents with issues surrounding difficult relationships and reconnecting after estrangement. She works with many adult children of dysfunctional families as well.

One of her favorite books is Polywise: A Deeper Dive Into Navigating Open Relationships by Jessica Fern and David Cooley. Dr. Trexler says, "Polywise is incredibly helpful for couples newly navigating non-monogamy or polyamory but also provides helpful frameworks for reinventing the way all couples, monogamous or not, approach challenging conversations with partners."
