We are a full telehealth clinic, which means we see people via video sessions. Our therapists are licensed in most states plus D.C., and our coaches can work in all states and internationally!
How does the intake process work? You can email us using the form below or at info@bestlifebehavioralhealth.com. We will ask you where you're located and what you're looking to address in therapy or coaching. If you're unclear about therapy vs coaching, the differences are here.
Many clients already know which providers they are interested in from reviewing their profile pages on this site. All providers have extensive bios detailing their approach and perspective, as well as a bit about them personally. If you already know who you'd like to work with, we will email you their openings and send you intake forms from Simple Practice, which is the HIPAA-compliant software we use for both forms and video sessions. They often go to spam, so check there if you don't see them! When the forms are filled out and you choose an appointment time, you will be charged, booked, and sent video link in a Google invite.
If you are unsure which provider would be a good fit for you, Dr. Whiten, the clinic director, will review the information you've shared and give you options who would be a fit for your needs and location. Although we are all virtual, therapists can only work in the states they are licensed; coaches can work anywhere. If you would like to discuss these options further, Dr. Whiten is happy to schedule a phone consult with you to discuss the various providers who would be the most helpful to you, and to discuss their approaches and communication style, as well as any other variables that are personally important to you (e.g., their experience with similar issues at the practice, their lived experience if relevant).
We do not have the therapists or coaches at Best Life engage in unpaid consults. There are ethical issues with this, including clients believing that a therapeutic relationship has been established by virtue of a consult, without informed consent having been obtained, and the therapist feeling pressured to give a "taste" of therapy or coaching in a brief chat rather than engaging in a full intake at their usual pace. The skill set of "selling yourself" in a brief consult is very different from the skill set of being an effective and intentional provider of either therapy or coaching. If you would like to know more about the provider's retention rate (how often clients stay with them versus leave), ask Dr. Whiten. We pride ourselves on hiring clinicians and coaches who are smart, skilled, and able to connect with clients with empathy and warmth.
