Ben helps navigate common challenges including:

  • Feeling emotionally or physically disconnected from your partner

  • Struggling to communicate what you really need — or to hear what your partner needs

  • Repeating the same arguments or patterns without resolution

  • Carrying old wounds from family that quietly shape your relationships today

  • Feeling like you've lost yourself in a relationship — or never quite found yourself to begin with

  • Navigating the aftermath of broken trust or infidelity

  • Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or like your inner world is louder than you can manage

  • Difficulty focusing, following through, or feeling settled

  • Adjusting to major life changes that have shaken your sense of stability

  • Persistent feelings of flatness, disconnection, or going through the motions

  • A mind that won't quiet down — overthinking, worrying, or replaying events on loop

  • Parenting challenges and family dynamics that feel bigger than you can navigate alone

Ben has a strengths-based approach that take a holistic view of the complex dynamics within relationships, working with those dynamics rather than against them.

In addition to normal 45-minute sessions, Ben offers longer 90-minute intensives for clients who really want to dive deep in a compressed fashion.

Having spent over a decade sitting with people in their hardest moments, Ben believes that being human is a developmental process. While much of that development happens naturally, we all face obstacles that take clarity, courage, and deliberate effort to overcome. His role is to help you see clearly what’s in your way — and to guide you through the process of doing what it takes to move toward the life you want.

Ben especially enjoys working with people who are ready to look honestly at where they’re stuck and take real steps toward the connection and fulfillment they deserve.

Ben says: "I believe that being human is a developmental process. While a lot of the development comes naturally, we are all faced with obstacles that take clarity, courage, and deliberate effort to overcome. In my own life, I’ve experienced more joy and greater confidence as I’ve faced challenges head on, and I love guiding clients through the process of harnessing the courage it takes to improve their lives."

Ben is also running a men's group. His passion for groups developed from seeing the satisfaction people get with being able to connect with one another, not just with their significant others. In groups, individuals have the opportunity to address their own obstacles towards connecting in real time with others, despite their differences. He believes that people feel better about themselves when they have direct experience overcoming their own challenges in relating with others.

Ben began his career in mental health in 2012 working with young people in wilderness therapy in the Colorado mountains. There he witnessed firsthand how family systems shape the way we relate to others — and how awareness of those patterns can unlock meaningful change.

Inspired by that work, he pursued his MSW at Smith College School for Social Work, then trained in Gestalt therapy at the Gestalt Institute of the Rockies. His own couples therapy journey deepened his commitment to this work and ultimately led to his passion for working with couples. A book Ben often recommends to clients is Intimacy & Desire by David Schnarch.

Ben currently lives in Maine with his wife and daughter. Outside the office he enjoys mountain biking, spending time by the ocean, camping, fishing, learning new languages, and developing carpentry skills.
