Jennifer Brand LCSW-C has over 25 years experience as a clinician. She is a warm, skilled and seasoned therapist who is able to integrate theories and interventions from a wide variety of practices including strengths-based, intimacy buckets, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and systems theory. Jennifer works with teens, adults, and couples, and can see any client residing in Maryland and Virginia.

Jennifer has an engaged and non-judgmental therapeutic style. She finds it easy to connect with a wide range of clients, and is an active and collaborative participant in session. She employs reflective listening as well as problem solving, making therapy a warm and accepting space as well as a place where you focus directly on change and growth.

Jennifer's specialties include codependency, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, infertility, relationship concerns, sex/intimacy issues, parenting (including single parenting and contemplation of this), divorce/blended family, cancer diagnosis, menopause and aging issues, communication within couples and families, and estrangement/family reunification. She identifies as sex-positive, and is familiar and comfortable with discussing sex in all contexts with individuals and couples. Jennifer is also a licensed supervisor for LGSW's.

One book that impacts Jennifer's perspective on clinical work is His Needs, Her Needs: Building An Affair Proof Marriage by Willard F. Harley, Jr. She enjoys working with couples to build emotional and physical intimacy, open up lines of communication, and understand their dynamics more deeply with an eye on creating a more connected and close relationship.

Jennifer's favorite quote is, "To achieve a lasting love bond, we have to be able to tune in to our deepest needs and longings and translate them into clear signals that help our lovers respond to us. We have to be able to accept love and reciprocate."- Sue Johnson (founder of Emotional Focused Therapy).

When asked about her approach, Jennifer said, "“I offer a warm, comfortable therapeutic space for singles/couples to share their most intimate needs and desires, where nothing is off limits. Clients are consistently encouraged to be open, honest and communicative with one another and themselves.

"As the therapeutic journey progresses, clients will quickly see improvements in their communication styles and with getting their needs meet sexually, intimately, physically and emotionally. My goal is for clients to leave our sessions feeling excited, rejuvenated, connected and motivated to spend time with their partner, in the privacy of their home, working on the suggestions and interventions discussed during our session."

A native of Rockland County, NY, Jennifer studied at Syracuse University before moving down to Maryland for Graduate School in Social Work. She loves warm weather, beautiful sunsets and surrounding herself with positive, straightforward, fun people. When she's not in session, she spends time with her son, goes to dinners out with close friends, spends time with family and power walks. Schedule with Jennifer today!
